Firm History

Bill Brennan founded our Firm in Manchester in 1975 as a sole practitioner under the banner of “William E. Brennan, P.A.”, committed to serving individuals and small businesses in a wide range of legal matters. He focused his practice on criminal defense and civil litigation. His trademarks were honesty, hard work, and long hours. Those hallmarks are maintained in our practice today.

In 1985 Gary Lenehan, a former Managing Attorney in the New Hampshire Public Defender Program, joined Bill. With the addition of Gary and his experience in criminal trial practice, the firm’s experience in criminal defense became even more defined and other areas of the practice continued to grow. In 1987, the addition of Mike Iacopino (also a former Public Defender) complemented a well-established criminal defense practice, while representation in civil litigation and family law was encouraged to flourish. Together, these members of our firm shaped their law practice into an organization now known throughout the state as “Brennan Lenehan.” Working together for more than 25 years, they are the nucleus of a litigation-based practice that is second to none in experience and quality of representation. Gary Lenehan is now retired.

The firm continued to grow in its practice and expansion of services. Kathy Hickey, a New Hampshire native, joined the Firm in 1991 to concentrate her work in family law. She worked closely with Bill Brennan on many, if not all, of his divorce cases. Bill Quinn, also a New Hampshire native, came aboard in 1999 after six years in a diverse private practice in the Conway area to supplement our civil and family law litigation services.

In July of 2009, Jim Connor, who has the same level of commitment to the practice of law that we possess, joined our firm in the capacity as "Of Counsel." Jim, who has since passed away, brought with him 45 years of experience in private practice in Manchester. A New Hampshire native, he was known throughout the state as a man of integrity and as a lawyer blessed with a combination of legal ability and common sense that is rare indeed.

The shareholders and associates of our firm have worked together for a time spanning decades. We are unique in this time of closures and mergers to have worked together without interruption since Bill Brennan’s start in 1975. We harness our combined strengths to the benefit of our clients, to whom we credit our success. The trademarks of honesty, hard work and long hours continue.
